Three Weeks Spent by the Mediterranean

This blog is definitely going to be a little difficult to write since I have so much to write about and my head is filled with thousands of stories I could tell. Spending the last three weeks in Platja D'aro, Spain was truly unforgettable and I'm glad I get to share it with my current one reader of this blog ;)

First off, my family was an enormous component of this trip, since I was able to see my absolute best friends from birth, my two gorgeous cousins. Considering I only get to see them about once in a year or two, whenever we do see each other, we always make it count. And to make it count, our solution was to do a copious amount of cliff jumping, partying, swimming, photoshoots, and hunting for poisonous fish.

Outcome of a 2 hour long photoshoot

Because we like to consider ourselves "adrenaline junkies", we started off the vacation by going cliff jumping off of an 8 meter (26 foot) cliff. Right now while writing this, it sounds as if I'm some brave person who jumped without looking back, however, in reality, it took me a solid half an hour to mentally convince myself to actually jump after seeing a giant group of brave ten-year-olds jump before me. Needless to say, my pride was a little hurt.

But after jumping once, all the other times were fine with no mental block. To me, jumping into the crystal clear water is one of the best feelings ever, because no matter how cliche it sounds, I truly felt like I was flying.

The place where we were jumping off of the cliffs was a small lagoon away from the main beach and was surrounded by sharp rocks with waves endlessly beating against them. So, of course, us geniuses decided that it would be a great idea to swim through the number of rocks which would take us twice as long to get to the beach as walking would.

After navigating through the maze of rocks and making it out to the very edge of the swim area (about 150 meters away from the beach), we began to feel as if we were being pinched all over our bodies, because it turns out that when you swim out far enough, you swim into a plankton-feeding zone where they begin to literally eat you alive. So, of course, we sped through the water as fast as we could to escape from being bitten more.

Being Russian + vacation + old family friends= (Crazy) Parties

Already a day after I had arrived, we were all invited to a birthday party for a ten-year-old. However after years of going to these Russian "kid birthday parties", I've come to the conclusion that a big part of having these, is for the adults to hang out, drink, and have a fun time. It's definitely an eye-opening experience to see your parents get a little drunk and act like kids. Additionally, when I'm surrounded by drunk adults, even with no alcohol in my body, I notice that I start acting as if I'm drunk myself. As a result of that, my cousin and I proceeded to find an empty stage right next to the restaurant we were at, and belt out ABBA songs at the top of our lungs, and eventually gained about a five person audience.

As for the food in Spain, most of the time we would eat dinner at home, however all the food we bought to cook ourselves included fresh fish, shrimp, and vegetables, so no matter what we ate, it was always really good. However, when we actually ended up going out to eat, it was AMAZING. All the fish we ate was always good no matter what. We went to a sushi restaurant and ordered so much food that it was impossible to finish it all, but we somehow managed to do it just because the fish was so good. Near the end of our trip, my aunt managed to get a reservation at a restaurant that was located at the top of a cliff inside of an actual working lighthouse, and the food was once again delicious. It will definitely take a while to get used to other fish at home, after being exposed to this actual heavenly Spanish fish.

Okay so I'm now finishing this blog almost exactly a week after I arrived home from the greatest time in Spain. I hoped you enjoyed this blog but if you didn't, you're still reading it for some reason so thanks for the views!!

I have way more stories I could tell from my adventures such as olympic swim training and poisonous fish, so if anyone is interested I will most definitely write a part two to this blog.

Peace Out,

Undercover Teen ♡
